What is Medicare Planning 101 Anyway?
We are hosting a free, 75 minute, intensive, hands-on Medicare planning workshop at Western Michigan University Fetzer Center, Albion College, and other locations throughout the Southwest Michigan area.
Achieve Healthcare & Financial Confidence in Retirement
Our Medicare 101 course is a hands-on, in-depth look into the many nuances of Medicare and retirement healthcare planning. Unlike basic sales seminars, this is an educational event where we focus on the essential information that you need to know in order to successfully navigate Medicare. This includes discussing the rules and timing deadlines you need to navigate to prevent lifelong penalties, coordinate workplace coverage, and protect your retirement nest egg.
Everyone who attends is eligible to receive a free, no-obligation, personalized Medicare review session to make sure that you are getting the most out of Medicare for your individual needs.
Medicare Planning 101 – What You’ll Learn
- Basics of Medicare: What is Medicare, and how the different parts work (Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, & Medigap).
- Enrollment Deadlines & Penalties: How the “3-1-3” timeline works and how to avoid lifelong Part B and Part D premium surcharges.
- Working Past 65: When employer coverage protects you, when Medicare becomes primary, and essential rules for stopping HSA contributions.
- Medigap vs. Medicare Advantage: Weighing nationwide access without referrals against regional network plans (Bronson, Beacon Health System (Formerly Ascension Borgess), and Oaklawn).
- The Medicare-to-Tax Connection: How IRMAA surcharges, two-year tax lookbacks, and Roth conversions impact your monthly healthcare costs.
- Real-World Case Studies: Discuss examples regarding how to appeal surcharges using Form SSA-44 and coordinate healthcare with retirement assets.
You will have the opportunity to ask general questions throughout the session and schedule a private, no-obligation follow-up consultation with our team to review your personalized Medicare roadmap.
